A little update…
Recently I moved to my favorite country, France. I live in a small house with a view of beautiful mountains. In the mornings, I enjoy sipping a cafe au lait. Then I spend my days studying and training. Additionally, I am attending French language school for a few weeks.
At the moment, I have been feeling a little isolated. This is partly because my French is not very good yet and it turns out moving can be mentally hard and tiring at first, and moving to a whole new country, well, it is a trip…. This isolated feeling I have shows me a new perspective on what it is like to come to a new country where you may not feel super familiar with, or not completely know the language! But I have found one way of connecting with other people, and it is through running.
I have been meeting up with and looking for different running groups around the area, so not only am I running, but I also make friends, practice speaking French, and discover new trails. I have not found a barrier with running. Running is universal.
As isolating as I may feel right now, it is comforting to know that running is universal and that it can lessen the feeling of isolation.
Have you ever felt like this before? How has running brought you peace during a major transition?
